This match is open to all LRC members and their guests. This is an informal match meant for fun. After shooting is completed there is a pot-luck social to follow. Show up at 10 a.m. to sign up. Bring a small dish or snack for the pot-luck if you wish to participate in that event after the match.
Participants will be shooting their “retired service rifles” at distances of 200 yards to 600 yards. The course of fire may vary depending on the participation, special request or weather. In general 60 rounds of ammo will be necessary but be prepared to shoot a little more. Other items required are appropriate clothing for the day, something to lay on, ear muffs, glasses and some type of spotting scope or binoculars will be needed.
The standard course of fire is:
- 2 Sighters & 10 Shots for Score Standing Slow Fire @ 200 Yards.
- 2 Sighters & 1-10 Shot String for Score Sitting Rapid Fire @ 200 Yards.
- 2 Sighters & 1-10 Shot String for Score Prone Rapid Fire @ 300 Yards.
- 2 Sighters & 20 Shots for Score Prone Slow Fire @ 600 Yards.
The type of gun used must be a military rifle retired from use. Some examples are:
- M1-Garand
- M1-Carbine
- M1917 Enfield
- M1903 Springfield
- Mausers (many)
- Lee Enfield
- Arisaka
- Mosin Nagant
- Schmidt-Rubin
